Danette Cantu graduated from St. Anthony School in 1984 and Columbus High School in 1988. She earned her undergraduate degree in English (with a specialization in Reading) from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. She spent her early teaching career in private education in Michigan while her husband Ray was in medical school. She also taught at St. Pius X Catholic School in Corpus Christi before moving back home to Columbus. Her job as mom took precedence for a few years, until Mr. O’Leary asked her to join the staff at St. Anthony ten years ago. She teaches junior high social studies and has also earned her religion certification with the Diocese of Victoria and teaches Theology of the Body to the junior high.
Danette has been married to Ray for 29 years and has four children and two grandchildren. She loves spending time with her family, traveling, baking and reading/relaxing at home.
